Have you noticed that we have far fewer statues here in the US than you have in Russia? At least, that's how it seems to me.

I think it depends on a city (either in the States or Russia). When I visited Santa Fe, New Mexico I was surprised by the number of sculptures in the city but Santa Fe is famous in the US as a home for artists. Moscow and St.Pete are full of sculptures but most of them are quite formal and classic ones.
